Calophyllum calaba Jacq. (code: CALOCALA)

• Morphology: Leaves opposite, secondary veins very fine, dense and parallel.
• Determination notes: Calophyllum species are very hard to ID form leaves - thre are many species and all the leaves look similar except for general size and fine details of the veins. It seems from various documents that the Haiti taxon in plantations is C. calaba, which is not native to the New World (Diaz 2013). Asian C. calaba is a difficult and variable species (Stevens 1980).
